How old are Silkies when they begin to Lay?

I don't own any Silkies but was wondering about how old they are when they begin to lay eggs and at what age do they go broody? I know birds can be completely different but what have your experiences been?

My oldest silkies are 7 months and they have not yet begun to lay. I bought them when they were 4.5 months old and have been hoping for an egg any day from them, but so far, nada

I have heard that hatchery silkies lay at about 6 months....My silkies(breeder) always lay closer to 7 months..
