How old are these hens?

During moult they will lose up to 1/3 of their normal body weight and will regain it afterwards.
Oh wow... So that makes sense. The one undergoing complete molt is the smallest and most skinny of them all. I am really looking forward to her finishing her molt and gaining back the weight and color. :)

Giving them some higher protein feed should help since their feathers are made of mostly protein. They have definitely improved greatly. Good luck and have fun...
Oh yes, I am giving them plenty of protein, it was already advised to me here and I've been giving it to them since then. I believe they made such progress partly thanks to that as well. :)

I think they were advertised as 1 year and a few months old - but it just seemed unusual to me to see such differences between them, not only in the comb and wattle size, but also in the size of the body in general. But I imagine there won't be any large age differences in those commercial productions.

Thank you for encouraging words! :)
What breed are they?

What breed are they?
It's probably not a breed but a hybrid, but as far as I found out, they should be Lohman Brown. It makes sense due to the color of their plumage (and especially those white feathers behind their neck) and also because this hybrid is often used in commercial production due to high egg yield.

Mine are Lohmann Brown too, albeit in better condition than yours when I get them. Watching them blossom in beautiful birds had been so much rewarding and heartwarming....
Unfortunately they're only three now, anyway the two ones that passed away have had 6 months / 10 months of real life. A peaceful and happy life!

They look like my Golden Comets

man those chickens looked like they have seen some things. I have always been against buying eggs from those places, that is why I got chickens because in was spending so much money on eggs from pastures farms. Now I am a crazy chicken lady.

Bless your heart for giving them the life they deserve.
