After hatching, Bobwhites are started at 97 degrees. A red or infra-red lamp is preferred to keep them calm and allow for natural sleep at night. Lower the temp by 5 degrees each week until they reach 6 weeks old. Make SURE to allow them plenty space while brooding. As this many Bobs grow, you are going to need about 1 square foot per bird in the brooder. Even babies can be very cannibalistic. If you are noticing a lot of picking and fighting, lower the temp a few degrees to calm them down. Over heated Bobs get aggressive. When they are old enough to go into grow out pens, give them about 3 or 4 square foot per bird.
