My chicks are exactly 1 month old today. We ordered 9 hens but they sent us 16 roosters. They are blowing through food and of course they had to send us a heavy breed so they are 2 times bigger than the original 9. When will they be old enough to sell?

As long as whoever you sell them to has a brooder and heat lamp, you can sell them anytime. They are pretty young yet, how do you know they are all roosters? What kind of chicks and which hatchery? Any pictures? I can't tell by looking at them but others will come along with more knowledge.

Sounds like someone just got over loaded. That's OK. In fact, more than OK to sell chicks if you're over loaded. You will find that the young chicks sell very well. Actually, all chicks and young birds sell well. Just run an ad on Craigs and they'll likely be gone. Just tell the truth. You got too many.

Unless they're Barred Rocks or sex links, it is somewhat difficult to always tell which are which at 4 weeks.
