how old do muscovy ducks have to be to tell the gender?

can any one tell me if they are hens or drakes? They get real excited and wag their tales like a dog when I come to feed them and they make this rattle sound when they get excited. They are the sweetest animal I ever had. They love to be loved on they are approx 6 months old

Might surprise you with some eggs soon but my Muscovy's are usually 8-9 months old before they start to lay.

They are sweet birds I love mine. Wish you were close I'd let my girls hatch you some ducklings they love to brood. lol mine will be getting fake eggs this year.

Me too I have seen these type of ducks before by owners, parks ect.. Did not know much about them and thought they were ugly after having these guys I fell in love and they are a beautiful. And they are easy to raise They kinda remind me of a dog so friendly and love to be petted and even wag their tail.. LOL

I have a ? I have what think is two males and when I separated them the other day the younger one started acting depressed and life less. Then I got a hen and they want nothing to do with her is this common?

My muscovy duckling is now going on 4 weeks old!! 90% sure it's a drake!! Has large legs (looks like tree stumps) and is huge, grew overnight!! It's my only muscovy and only duckling right now! I have 2 female's one a Rouen 2 years old and the other a KC 1 year old they want nothing to do with the new duckling they run from it!! The duckling (Kevin) goes after there tail feathers?? The older girls did not grow up together and not introduced till the KC was 3 months old!! Not sure why they don't like ( Kevin) the only thing I can think of is they knew he was a drake before I did!! so Kevin lives in the house happy Duck!!

@edillon216 maybe able to help if you can get front body and side body shots. Just taking a wild guess I'd say the one to the right of the pic facing the camera is a drake. But it is best to get full view of body and legs.
