I have a 12 wk. old who I purchased as a sexed BA day old pullet. After a few weeks it became apparent it wasn't a BA as feathers are black with white markings. I asked here and verdict came back SLW roo (red comb, thick legs, etc.) But I'm not convinced.
Abigail hasn't crowed yet, no pointy saddle feathers, and her tail doesn't look any different than the others. But I am wondering if he/she just hasn't fully feathered out yet because her feathering looks nothing like the photos I see of SLW, hers are really muddled, not the sharp barring I see on mature birds.
I'll try to post a photo soon, but any early thoughts would be great. My main question is how much do feather colors and pattern change after 12 weeks old? I just can't wait for crowing or eggs, my husband keeps threatening to eat her/him!
Thanks.
