How Old does this Cock look and can it still fertilise eggs?

I just got this new cockerel and was wondering what his age looks like as I have noticed some grey bits on his face which I am wondering if he is old. Also I wanted to k ow whether he can still fertilise eggs and is still in his prime.

I know he is a Plymouth Rock

He is probably between 1 1/2 and 2 1/2yrs old from looking at his spurs. As long as he is topping his hens he should be breeding. Don't worrie about if everyone else would have him or not. If you want him keep him, if not make supper.

Agree he does not look that old based on spur size but they could have been trimmed. Otherwise he looks in good condition and the dry skin patches around his face do not indicate old age. There is no easy way to determine the age of chickens after they are fully grown. Its impossible to tell if he is fertile but there is no obvious reason why not. I predict he will do his duties perfectly well.

Did the seller tell you how old he is and if his spurs have been 'trimmed'?

Oh, BTW, chickens don't 'go grey' when old like some dogs and people do.
