What is the typical age a standard cochin will go broody? Is 6 months too early?

6 months seems quite early. Giant cochins are slower to mature much like other giant breeds. On the other hand, I have a 6-7 month old bantam cochin who has been broody for over 10 days now. I let her have her own single egg to try.

Thanks. I thought it would be a bit early, since they are at the point of lay, but not laying.

Been searching for a mature silkie hen to suit my needs. A couple of standard cochin hens popped up and I know they tend to be runner up for best broody.

May have to pick them up for future purposes. :) Thanks
