How old is too old?

No. She may be a bit tough to fry or roast, but should taste fine. She'll no doubt make a good soup.

Brine for a couple of days, then cook in the crock-pot until the meat falls of the bones. Remove the bones, chop or shred the meat, and make any number of fabulous dishes with the cooked meat. Chicken tacos, enchiladas, burritos or chimichangas, tamales, chicken salad, pot pie, any kind of chicken casserole dish, BBQ sandwiches, etc. Save the broth for sauces and gravies. It will be the best broth you ever had.

Old birds are great for so much more than mere soup.
