How old will my turkey be when she stops laying?

Thanks for that info!! I wondered how she would be broody. She is usually really sweet. Lets us pet her and pick her up and all of that stuff. We've had her for 4 years so this may be her last laying year. She looked old when we found her but I have no idea. What do you do with them when they are done breeding? (If you don't mind me asking) I've always wondered. We have turned out old chickens in the yard (they sleep in the barn) we said we were going to eat them. But neither me or my husband could do it after spending the past several years with them.lol I don't know anyone personally that breeds turkeys around here. We have the cackle hatchery in lebanon. But I don't think they sell eggs. I am constantly checking craigslist though. I think I actually found some eggs at a swap meet tomorrow!! If they don't work out I hope she lays next year because she will have a boyfriend.

My turkey hen is either 6 or 7. She doesn't lay anything like she did last year. I finally got her a tom the end of last Nov. Since Jan 1 she has laid 3 eggs every other day then she takes 2-4 weeks off. Then she lays 3 eggs over a week and takes 2-4 weeks off. This last tims she laid 6 eggs but is now on vacation again. In previous years she has started laying the end of May or beginning of June and laid like crazy then went broody the beginning of July. She has taken chicken eggs in the past and was a good mom. She is mellowing in her old age. I was able to check the Guinea eggs under her and make sure there weren't any new ones daily. The Guinea liked having her do all the work until they started hatching, then she fought for the eggs from the turkey and killed the keets.

I have hatched 2 poults from her this year, so don't give up hope on her.
