How quickly can chicken lice spread

Pick up some amprolium (aka Corid) while you're there. You don't know if his former home has the same strain of cocci as is present at your place. Long and short of it, he might become exposed to a strain that he's not prepared to deal with, and he could shed cocci eggs from a strain that your existing flock has never seen before too. Cocci is absolutely everywhere, but there are several types (kind of like dogs are everywhere, but several types). Giving all of your birds the medicine will reduce their cocci loads and enable their immune systems to acclimate to (the possible) additional cocci type(s). This preventative measure is worth the effort and cannot harm your flock in any way, whatsoever.
