just looked at rare breeds canada and they are listed as VULNERABLE with there being 500-999 birds in canada. BSW are CRITICAL less then 100 in canada !!!

yes they are listed as heritage breeds that need to be preserved.

we have some and LOVE them. ours sit in our laps, follow us everywhere.
easy to breed also. so get out there and populate them, people!!!

The are listed as "watch". Makes me wonder though, how rare can they be when every major hatchery carries them and you could order 100's if you wanted.

edited to add: i do believe strongly in preserving heritage breeds, but at the same time, if we want the animal to be preserved properly, then let's get them going and quit bickering over if it is actually the actual animal or not!
