How red were your pullets wattles when she started to lay?

Hudsonhousechicks--My Speckled Sussex (both) have pink combs but they are not very big and my Wyandotte has a bit bigger and a little redder ones. The EE's are similar to the Speckled Sussex gals.

Cabot--nice girl and only two weeks older than my girls.

Paolchknlady-- I think Checkers looks absolutely darling--like she is wearing an old fashioned ladies hat.

SunnyDawn--uh oh. Now that complicates things!

My BR has been red for weeks but just laid her first egg today. My BO has been laying since last Wed (?) and her comb I would describe as hot pink. My EEs have started laying, inconsistently, and I wouldn't call their combs red at all.
