I have been using sweet PDZ for a few weeks and tonight I read the package and it says flush with water if injested by animals or humans. I spread scratch in my run and use PDZ in the run and coop so i know they have to injest it at some extent right?

From PDZ site:

Chickens

Chickens have a lot of benefits, but they are by no means the neatest of barnyard animals. In fact their coops, hen houses and pens can get really stinky. Sweet PDZ is the answer to your smelly, dropping filled coops. Sprinkle Sweet PDZ liberally where the birds make their mess. Reapply regularly on the most frequently used roosting areas, and you’ll be well on your way to a healthy, safe and pleasant smelling chicken house. Sweet PDZ also makes it much easier to remove the droppings when cleaning out the chicken’s house. As an added benefit Granular Sweet PDZ can be safely eaten by the birds and used by them to grind their food. Clean smelling chickens = healthy chickens.

I did not put it in the run for that reason. I was worried too. So I only put it in the coop. I only used about a half a cup and mixed it really well with the shavings. Once a week I go in there and re-shuffle it around and it works wonderful. But I do think some people on here have had breathing problems with it. I do love the stuff and will continue to use it because IT WORKS. But I will stick with using it sparingly. My one bag will probably last a year! (for your sake as well as the chickens.) just MO.
