How Serious a Threat is Salmonella

Just like the others have said... use common sense and wash your hands after handling chicks. Also a good idea to wear gloves when you are cleaning coops... any open cuts on your hands are a direct route to your bloodstream for bacteria. I also wear a face mask when I'm cleaning the coop... feces carry a wide array of fungii that can be transmitted to humans and can cause some nasty lung infections.
