How should I do this? Bees

Assuming that you will be using multiple supers, I would use something to cause a temporary gap between them - just for a day or two. I agree with R2elk.
Thank you! What do you mean? A separator? I think there is around two-three supers on them, but I won't be taking the honey most likely, maybe next year but I don't know enough right now to do that. I am excited to get started though!
 
Only to cut down on the initial confusion and swarming around where the old entrances used to be. I understand that would be stop - gap at best and might cause more problems.
I wouldn't leave gaps there. They will do fine without it. The main thing is to put the frames in the new hive in the same order that they were in the old hive. The extra flights will all be over by nighttime when all the bees will be back in the new hive.
 
Thank you for the clarification! I think I will just give them new housing and then do research over the winter then next spring work on getting everything back to where it's supposed to be. Do you all recommend any books or websites?

Try to find a local beekeepers club in your area. Your local county extension agent should be helpful.
