Also should one be able to hear a chirp after they have pipped?

Do you have a humidity gauge? You should keep it at 60 to 65%. Sometimes I use a cut in half pill bottle with a piece of sponge in it with the water (the sponge helps in case it gets knocked over) to up the humidity. I had one chick externally pip and not hatch out until almost 48 hours later! Two others came out before this little one did, but I was patient and didn't mess with it. Good Luck you never know!Next question is as I was not sure how many days on they were when I took the eggs from under the broody it was guesswork by candling so I might have locked down a day earlier. Now I have a chick pippping and not zipping 14 hours from the first pip. I am worried there is not enough water in the Brinsea incubator? I quickly lifted the lid to put in a wet tissue. Is that going to help at all?
I totally agreee! I was worried because I could see an external pip and hear no cheeping and see no rocking yesterday afternoon. This is reassuring even to a Hatching veteran![]()
