How soon can I candle remaining unpipped eggs?

I tried sponges and they didn't work very well... I was on a thread about Hatching at high altitude, but the one I was on didn't have many posts... maybe I was in the wrong place!

The fine, dense sponges do not work well at all. The coarser the sponge is the better it will work. The humidity pads work very well.
