how soon do I have to clean a wound?

Jean, that's just an unimaginable loss - especially your first hatch. Thank goodness you were able to save the others. I know exactly what you mean about the shoulder - my back is a little sore but it's worth it. Now things are as safe as I can make them... You'd think your neighbors would understand the value of your animals and their safety to you, as they are in rescue. What a shame that they put you in a bad position with their bob cats, dogs, and everything else.

Bearded they are in rescue for the money. By starting that rescue the state bought them all kinds of land and put up all kinds of buildings. They only have to stay in rescue for 5 years then it is theirs free and clear and they didn't have to put a penny into it. He made that comment more than once. Also they get paid so much a month just like foster care.

But things we do in life come back to haunt us so I wish him the best and put up a stronger electric fence. She got it good again this morning, must of had wet feet because she was yelping for a while before it let her go. I just can't believe she doesn't learn. She checks that fence at least a couple times a week.

How is the hen today sure hope she is doing better. Bet ya felt the back today LOL maybe you should be drinking that asprin water LOL

I believe that, too. People who are like that usually make up for it with misery somewhere in their lives. I can't believe the dog hits the wire that often either, but then again working dogs are bred to take a kick from a cow and still keep working...

The hen was not good yesterday, but today she seems better - finally eating some small bread pieces from my hand. I think the pain must be subsiding. The wounds don't look infected, so I'm cautiously optimistic today.

I'll setup a crate in the coop tomorrow if she's doing a little better. She's heavily feathered and probably way too warm indoors. She'd also probably appreciate some chicken company...
