i want to keep a pair of boots that I only wear inside coop/run by coop to prevent tracking in any wild bird droppings. Ive seen a few folks mention they do this. How? I dont want to just keep them outside in the rain, is there like a little insect proof locker or something I can get for outside the coop ?

I have barn boots. I keep them in the garage against the wall near the door. I imagine you could use anything, like a plastic lid, to cover the top of each boot so nothing can get inside.

It's a struggle. With poo coating the bottom I never want to put mine anywhere decent, yet there's spiders to consider, as well as rain.
For the time being, mine are on a raised shoe rack (cheap small metal one) tucked under the side of our RV. Not a perfect solution.

Thanks all. I’m leaning toward a bucket with a gamma lid. Was hoping for a nice looking deck box, but cant find one insect proof. Have lots of brown recluse here so no thanks.

Mine are in the attached garage. Could use a utility room but I want the poopy boots totally outside the house.

My concern is not tracking wild bird droppings into the coop or run but to keep the dirty boots out of the house and keep my other shoes clean. I only wear my boots on my property, never off site, so I don't track anything from the feed store to the chickens.

Big old plastic yard waste trash can for me, that sits under an overhang near the run. I trek out in my normal boots, swap to chicken boots, and the run is about 10' away. We can fit 2 pairs of boots inside and the lid fits snugly, so no rain, snow, bugs.

I keep a storage cabinet on the deck. It doubles as seat. It holds old sneakers, boots and some coop stuff.
