How "tall" to build raised coop?

I see a lot of varying answers.....some relate to how high off the ground and others to the height of the coop.....

Tell us please are you looking for how high off the ground, how tall for the coop itself or the coop plus the raised base?

You will want to be able to stand up inside your coop. And you will sometimes need to retrieve something from under it -- an errant egg, a stubborn chicken, for example.

Agreed. Our neighbors' coop has a low roof. Every little chore inside is torture. Just adding feed hurts my back. Our coop has room for me to stand up, even if I had antlers.

What is the floor area?

Are you planning on "walking" inside?

How do you plan on cleaning inside?

Is this a "new coop build", "renovation", or "addition"?

While you can "go vertical" to gain more space ...if your coop is only 3'X3' ... it doesn't really make much sense to go 6'+ high, as there is no room for birds to go up or down to roost ...

Not planning on walking inside the coop itself, as it's 6x6. The run, Yes will have human access for sure. I have 2 different sides right now for cleaning access. New Coop build.

Overall foot print being 6x15 and with the 30" height off the ground it allows that access to the hens underneath the coop as part of the run. I am limited by city ordinance on structure size without needing a building permit---- Go figure!! 6x15 gives 90sq ft 6x6 giving 36sq ft inside coop itself.

Gonna be hard to reach every corner of coop, unless you have multiple access doors. Keep in mind....you need to be able to grab a bird off the roost (with both hands) for exams.

Height too?

Higher is better for ventilation. Here's some tips:
