Things you wish you could say

I found a great way to handle my ever-growing to-do list. I create a "Punnett Square. Remember those from middle/high school? My "list" is divided into a 2x2 square. Along the top are the headings "Need to do" and "Don't need to do" The sides are labeled "Want to do" and Don't want to do." The bottom right block is stuff that I neither need to nor want to do. It's very gratifying to knock that block off the list right away!

Genius. I am stealing this idea.

There is a crap-ton of trash/junk on their porch. A box tumbled off in the high winds we had several days ago, and the styrofoam pieces fell out and blew onto our property.

The adults are busy, I get it. They home school 3 boys, dad is in the academy to become a sheriff, mom works part time at they gym that they help manage.

I hope they don't get any chicks this year. They're tired of taking care of the chickens. And I really hope she never decides to get a goat.

Michigan is a "fence in" state (it's your responsibility to keep your animals on your property). If they get a goat, I will tell her if it is EVER in my garden, I will shoot it. Done deal, no apologies.

They're nice enough... just ... not attentive to what's going on.
Bonus:goat is delicious

I hope to not find out this way. I really hope she has realized (via the chickens) that animals are a lot of work and they tie you down, and she isn't thinking about goats anymore.

The chickens as "a life lesson" for the boys didn't seem to pan out much... I see a very sullen face when one of them is taking food to the coop. Or maybe it taught them that they would rather play computer games than take care of animals.

I have half an acre, and I thought about goats to keep the grass down, but the more research I did on them, the more I realized that they are more upkeep than I'm willing to put in.

Maybe I can borrow a couple goats for a couple days...

You know that they are browsers more than grass eaters.

That's part of why I opted not keep them. Right now I don't have any trees in the back yard, so if anything, I'm worried that they'd eat the greenhouse, but I do want trees eventually. It's plastic sheet coated. I put a post with some questions about that in a local farm classifieds to see what people say. I'm probably going to invest in a lawn mower this summer. I still toy with the idea of rotating guinea pigs around the yard, but that's a lot of upkeep during the winter to keep them fed.

As you can see, a lot of weird ideas crop up in my head that a bit of research usually keep from ever seeing the light of day.
