How thick do you keep your shavings?

You know, I used to use only shavings in the coop, and now, since it's winter, I use a combination of straw and shavings together. I might be mistaken, but it just seems warmer and fluffier.

What I do is, I get in there every few days and I take out the big poops on the surface, and then I use a garden rake and fluff it all up. Seems to work very well. I used to clean the coop out entirely about every two or three weeks, and now I don't. Using the deep litter method for winter.

Oh, about the thickness, I'd say my bedding in the coop (the mixture of shavings and straw) is probably a good six inches deep, and when I fluff it up, it's even deeper.
