how to add a roost in my brooder box...?

hi...i have chicks that are about 2 weeks old..and i can tell that they need to start perching on something...but my problem is..i have them in a rubbermaid type tub...with screen over the top....how do i put a perch in that?..if i had a big cardboard box i'd use that and stick the perch through the sides(saw that a recent post)..any ideas, please, thanks, Wendy

I just went outside and found a stick that was the right size. Then I took a utility knife and cut an X on either side of the rubbermaid tub. Then I just shoved it through one X and into the other.

If you don't want to cut up the tub, just find a stick that is bent and branched adn will stand up on the bottom of the tote on it's own. My chicks actually prefered the lower roost at first, then moved to the one I installed through the X cuts.

I used 2x2 blocks and built a roost. Just layer them.
