How to Assess Interest in Quail Eggs?

Well when I get everything started up
(Within a few more months)
I plan to sell the males for around $2.50/3 live per bird with a extra 50 cents or so for butchering

When I start in about a week incubating
I plan to set 70 eggs or more a week and hatch them and sell them for a 50 cents or $1 each

Thats not bad at all. Also if you want a legal operation sell them for 3 bucks than free butchering. You cannot legally charge for butchering.

Look around the forums, me personally I can't see raising quail on the ground (Coturnix) they are just to much of a hassle to keep everything clean and supply the food and water without a big mess.

Yeah, I have been looking around. So far I have not found a viable option for laying and breeding quail to be on the ground- at least for me. So far the most cost effective option I have found (at least for me) is a pen/cage I found on YouTube or something where a guy used electrical conduit as the frame for the cage/pens. Although, since the conduit does not make good right angles it looks awfully difficult to get a secure pen/cage. So if anyone has any pics they would care to share of their set-up I would love to see and will enjoy following everyones' progress.

I use hardware cloth cages and they are great for keeping the quail clean and sanitized. Any commercial cage you can buy is made this way. Its best for the birds to keep them clean. I put a tub in the cages with a 50/50 mix of sand and peat moss so they can get off the wire when they want to. I have to change this every week because it will go from sand/peat moss to sand and poop in seven days lol. I will try to take pictures but I am known not to lol. Also why is it illegal to charge for butchering? The guy I have process my elk/deer/javilina charges me. Why can't you?

Because you need a license to process them and the rules are stupid and needs to be done in like a usda approved facility and all this other ********. You can process them for someone if it's free though.
