I’m on day 7 and I have 60 eggs in a cabinet incubator...do I even attempt to check them all? If so any recommendations on how to go about it?

I also have 6 eggs under a broody....do I wait until dark and check one at a time?

I would candle a random selection. Can you leave them in the tray and just shine the light in from the fat end? That way you aren't handling a large number of them which can lead to accidents (ie. dropping some). It would also mean you could peek at more as it's faster.

I never candle.
I to have a 60 egg incubator. Never had an egg explode in it. Did have a bad egg, but I could small it first, then identify it because it began to sweat.
Also, broody hens have been hatching eggs for a long time on there own, and do not require interference from us by candeling.
Candeling may be fun for some, or even crutial for hatcheries. But not necessary for our backyard flocks.

I have 3 kids home from school until January so this is fun for them and learning!!! This is our second time incubating chickens and we have also have incubated 2 sets of guinea eggs from our flock this spring!

We also had one of our 2 little bantams go broody the day before we put our eggs in the incubators so I thought it would be really cool to give her some eggs at the same time too! We’ve never had a hen hatch eggs and so far she’s doing great!
