Why do you raise chickens?

My dad won’t let me have a dog.
Chickens are a great outlet for all the tanked up affection I have been saving ever since I was a little girl wanting a pet.
It wasn’t hard convincing my parents to let me get chickens, SINCE they lay eggs!

Mom told me not to dare tell dad that I call them PETstock!lololllll

I also really like the eggs! It is so satisfying to bring in a basket filled with 14-17 eggs every day!

...initially they were cuties hatching out of the incubator from a nursing home, all those yellow fluffy got me started.

Chickens are great therapy, slow down time for me to smell the roses...or their morning stinking poops

Came for fertilizer for the garden and fresh eggs, stayed because they are amazing animals with hilarious antics and who wouldn't be happy seeing a flock of (mostly) bearded hens run up to you because they're wondering what you're doing

First time....love at first sight cuties, fluffy and ..melted my heart

Then I got addicted looking at their feathery self.....

..they are family.......

I raise chickens for: Meat, Eggs, Show, Feathers, & Manure.
I might have a chance to show a couple birds this year at the fair, I hope.

Both DW's Grandparents and mine had chickens. Must be in our genes. I do like watching the strut of a big proud rooster, and those fresh eggs. Just 3 hens now.
