Hi - it is day 9 for our 9 turkeys eggs in the brinsea 20 - does anyone know how to "candle" eggs - i don't have the fancy scope or anything. I have tried candling before with chicken eggs - went into a dark room , faced the lightbulb, held egg btw my face & the lightbulb - never could tell anything but had great hatches - help, anyone. This is our first turkey incubation and the hatch means so much to us, we're so excited. Thanks for any help. Is it too soon at day 9 to candle???

What I do is go into a very dark room, get a flashlight, set the egg on the flash light and put my thumb and forefinger around the flashlight between the egg and the flashlight so that no light shows through (except through the egg). I am on day 21 and can only see the air cell, the rest of the egg is dark. I hope this helps.

Thank you so much for the video and the support.
(that video was cool) thanks so much! I will ask DH what sort of lumen of flashlights we have - both replies have invloved flashilights. Thanks gain very truly,

I got it at Farm and Fleet. It is the big store here that has all kinds of stuff. Kind of like a TSC but way bigger and with an automotive and paint department. You can get them on ebay as well. I saw up to 300 lumens on ebay for under $10. Maybe walmart has some too. I didnt check there.
