How to catch a loose rooster????

I do realize this thread is from a long time ago yet still very usefull and it will remain this way as well . Now I might be a very green newbie , I do know ' roosters and the wild / free range ' like when I must have been six old . A friend ( and now my backyard neighbour over the woods ;) ) where I used to play lived there with his father alone at same age and we were always busy doing scouts things , ahum I know I am deep inside a little boy when it comes to playing as a kid but it tought me how well they can just live in the forest trees . The father did not even had to give food or anything , just no coop at all , only some shelter made by some junk in the garden , for example against his house ( a cabin) some stables of pines with some old closet doors etcetera , they manage just perfect ! Cold winters are no problem , medicin is never needed , so in fact I am more likely to think to start seeing them as what they truely are , these are birds , ok big birds and sometimes , most times tame but there are still people enough who have lots of poultry living just fine without any build coop and so on , I only see him throwing some scraps of the food yet even that mostly gets eaten by (other) birds ...

About catching roosters back again ; in this case I would indeed go for the live trap and if he doesn't show up you could use a hen IF only that one is as tame as can be ! to lore him , if close enough to you I prefer the towel/blanket method because that way you can better ' hush little baby don't u cry ' him a bit while he feels more comfortable than if you 'd do it with a net , a net is always still going to be an experience he will associate with harm and their memory ??? next time you WILL see him , better yet it is best that if he stands right in front of you to go just back inside ! those guys can be really angry about it and your relationship with the animal is ruined ! a relationship without trust , well , how is a marriage without that ? close indeed , shattered , won't be fixed again . Make sure you cover it's eyes so it can not see anything so this calms him , also keep talking to him as if nothing special is going on , use a nice tone in voice like you'd just be talking to kids so it will learn that you are not doing any harm and you can put him where he should be put without being hurt or having him hurt / scared .

That is why I prefer that method but but but , only do this as long as this rooster doesn't really know you yet or has a behavior with some mean characteristics or is just totally violent if you touch it , after a while it won't be needed to use any blanket or covering its eyes because if the relationship with the hand that feeds him goes well , you can just grab him gently and tight like any other chicken ... ( noted this thread thanks to 'dr. google ' since I was looking on how to build a live trap since my rooster is new , can be suddenly mean and is on the loose but ... INSIDE of the house upstairs and too fast to catch him and the blanket is also a little bit .... 'damaged ' :) )
