how to clean a birds feet?

what is your best tactic for cleaning a birds feet? dirt is hard to get out from under the scales but i would like if i was able to clean that somehow.

If you want to clean under scales I think the easies option would be to soak the chickens feet with warm water, loosen up the dirt and then scrub it off. If you live where it's cold or have snow dry off the foot and leg completely and make sure that there is no water on the chicken whatsoever.

I use warm water and gentle persuasion with my fingers. They seldom need it done, and are (well most of them) happy enough to sit and have it done. Of course, out of 20 there are a few dissenters!
