to get rid of lice ?

thanks

Lice- (if that is what they really are rather than mites) cannot hatch or survive off the bird for very long. They are not a premise problem.

Destroying them on the bird is how you get rid of them. That requires a chemical insecticide formulated for the purpose and used in the recomended manner. The use of Diatomaceous Earth AKA "DE" to control external parasites is a fantasy.

Bleach, Sodium Hypochloride, has no practical use in controling an external parasite problem on chickens.

Go up top right and do a search for lice and another for mites. Lots of good info in those threads, and it will help you decide what the problem is for sure and which treatment to use. Be careful with the bleach, the fumes can be really bad.

If you access to tobacco plants, they'll get rid of lice ASAP. use to be able to buy liquid nicotine, little on vent, no more lice. Chicken house smelled like all night poker game was held there.

Can make your own by brewing some tobacco.

What they said. Don't worry about the coop, worry about thoroughly dusting the birds. Dri-kill is pretty much all you can get up here but it should do the job as long as you are *thorough* and repeat the treatment every, what is it, 5-10 days? (look it up) for several treatments, to get what hatches from the current lice's eggs (which are not killed by the powder)

And then, get in the habit of checking closely every week or so, allowing you to notice any recurrance before it really gets goin'.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat

Thanks for the help guys, but i just , i have used a whole bottle of the stuff repeating every about 6 days and they ae still here , im getting rid of everything in my coop and buying new hay ater i clean the crap
