we got 2 dominant copper chicks today and they were fine the car ride home but when we put them in the brooder one of them started violently pecking the other. she started with just like little pecks to the bum but then she started biting hard and shed latch on and shake her head and wouldnt let go of the other chick. we tried everything i read. we put some shiny duct tape on the walls we gave them shiny streamers and marbles and fluffy pipe cleaners and cotton balls but nothing is distracting her from pecking her friend. i read that "disciplining" the chick can help by poking them when they peck their friends but that didnt help either. shed just go right back to the other chick and start again. we tried going back to the store to trade her for a different chick but they were sold out. im really desperate here i just dont know what to do. ive never had this problem raising chicks before.

Give this a read, if you still are not able to deter the little stinker, then separation may be your only solution.
