How to delete messageS?

Am I blind? (Or is it early?

) How do you delete the messages in your inbox?

It's on the bottom left - well it is for me. It's highlighted in red.

Well I tried it - doesn't work unless you check the delete box off to the right first.

Weird. I hit "Delete multiple messages" then the delete button came up. It wasn't in red though. Oh well, it got deleted!!!!
I didn't have a box to check either... weird!
