Hi,
So we got several nice hams. But the 1st we cooked was salty.
So, a couple of days later I stopped by the butcher and asked him how I could make them less salty? He was happy to be asked and replied he knew how.
Take one part regular 7Up ( or orange juice) and one part water. Combine them to make enough liquid to fill your roaster 1 inch deep. Then set the ham in the liquid (no rack) and bake as usual. He said the acids in the liquid would suck the salt out of the ham.
Next time we cooked a ham we tried it and it worked just fine! My that ham tasted much better.
