How to deter feral cats?

we have neighbors with a ferral community and the cats wander up here and our lab /husky mix takes care of them. I have talked to the neighbors about it and they will not do anything to reduce the population and it seems the joke is on us when we have to dispose of the bodies.

I would think the fleas the cats carry will become a problem also, if they are not already. Some of the schools in my district have had feral cat problems and the fleas get into the classrooms and become a HUGE pain.

I feel for the cats, it is not their fault, but cats are probably the domesticated species most adept and reverting to a wild way of life. Many animal species have been wrongfully introduced and kill native animals. I hate to say it, but to try to just deal with the problem they pose, out ouf pity for them, is not going to stop the predation. When people screw up, animals often pay the price.
