How to Drive the BYC Search Tool

If I want to search for all posts made by someone in all forums *except* one or two forums, will the search work by doing a "control a" to select, then a "control click" to deselect the forums I'm not interested in?

Okay, it sort of works, but I think I found a bug. I got it to show all posts of mine in all but the peafowl forum, but when I clicked on page two of the search results the page was blank.

OK, I tried it - got 32850 results over 1314 pages. I checked the first 14 pages and they were complete.

I cheated though - when there was a heading above a group of forums, I selected the heading, not the individual forums- except for Other Backyard Poultry. This heading contains the peacock forum, so I had to select all but that one.

For example "Forum Information and FAQs" heading contains the forums: Frequently Asked Questions, BYC Website & Forum Feedback & Announcements (including Mobile Feedback Forum), Sponsored Content, Contests, and Giveaways (including Caption Contests). I selected "Forum Information and FAQs" and got all the forums listed under that heading.

Sorry - couldn't figure out how to highlight the ones I chose for the search. On my PC, I selected forums/headings by holding down the Ctl key, then clicking the left mouse button.

okay, I am stuck on stupid.

What I'd like to be able to do is search all forums except for games/jokes/fun, and I'd like the results to display from newest to oldest. Why is it that you guys can make it work, but I can't? Can you try it again using my name and select all but games/jokes/fun?

Okay, same as your earlier "removal" of the Peafowl (CTRL-A "choose all", and still holding down Ctrl-A [mouse/cursor] "click" on GJF to remove GJF from Your Search). Then declare date range (to-from/from to X-00/00/00), etc. - can also sort ascending/descending date - after results appear, if you like. (If you would like more screen shots, that's okay - but I'd suggest techs need to look at your being "frozen out" - (only one post from 2014 shows up on your PAGE TWO results).

Try searching a single subforum - "posts only" (turkeys, of course) by my user name - then try the same using your user name - does searching with your user name still show only one post on page two results and tries to suggest "advanced search", though AS is what is employed to get that message????

If you are still getting NOTHING on Page Two, etc. of these advanced searches - PM Nifty to this thread. I posted shots of same search you performed - and got the same error (WTH?) - performing the same Advanced Search (remove only Peafowl) using my user name (tried using other user names, as well - but could not replicate the "error" you ran into).

Okay: I have no problem with Advanced Search (only one subforum - all but 1/2/3 subforums), with my user name. Advanced Search with your user name still results in only ONE POST listed on Page Two-X - See screen captures in my previous post. EX: I choose "Other Backyard Poultry" user name: ivan3 - and all 1778 posts/9 threads "created by" appear in results and all pages of results (tested) are accessible. User Name: casportpony? same search? - clicking on page two? (see screen capture from my previous post).

Okay, so for now I think it's probably not worth the effort it would take for the techies to look into this more, and I'm probably the only one interested in doing a crazy search like this, but I will play around with it a little more and see what I can come up with.
