I have 6 egg laying hens, I had to wait until the comb on the top of their heads went red, it took a while. I feed them their normal chicken feed but once a day they get chopped up veg, a good mix and also mealworms. Grapes as a treat. I've had between 5 and 6 eggs a day. I wash and keep them in the fridge. But what I did do was buy a fake egg to start with. It helped them get started
