How to Entertain Your Chickens....

Just throw some apple tree branches in their pen with the apples still attached!



We had a limb break, and after we pulled the big apples off, the chickens got the rest. That will keep them busy for a while!

Give them a whole pumpkin with a tiny hole cut out. It is surprising how fast they figure out how to dismantle it.

I do that with the giant zucchini squash that have appeared in my garden

Last night I put a large pumpkin in their pen with no hole in it. they had a big meeting and discussion this morning about it and then proceeded to peck away at it. Funny as heck.

Give them a couple of wheelbarrows full of much that has been decaying for a couple of months. I put a foot of it over the dirt part of their hallway pen (connects coop to outdoor pen). They are scratching away catching worms etc like crazy.

In the fall I put a huge pile of leaves in their run they love scratching around in them.
