As of now im feeding everyone layer crumbles....Im concerned the chicks need stater/grower,and the roosters, I have no idea hwat they need. Thanks for any feedback!

I'm going to have this issue in a few weeks, when I mix in younger chicks with my year old layers. I most likely will remove the layer feed as I don't want the chicks ingesting it, and feed everyone starter/grower.

No expert here, just what I am going to do:)

You can feed starter/grower or Flock Raiser with oyster shell on the side for the layers. The Flock Raiser is 20% protein and the starter/grower is usually 17% protein (starter is 20%).

It is good for "teenage" chickens to have the starter/grower I have read, to prevent egg binding and the like, but if they are younger chicks then I'd do the chick starter or Flock Raiser.

I have hens that are one year old and an assortment of chicks hatched this summer. Dry starter/grower crumbles available at all times and fermented feed made from starter/grower crumbles and other ingredients (grains and dried legumes) fed in the a.m.. I have grit available to everyone and oyster shell in a separate area for the laying hens. This works well for me.
