How to figure out Chickens age!?

I wasn't to sure which category to post this question under, but I figured this one would be a good choice. How do you tell the age of your chickens? And what are there average lifespan? Here are a couple of pics of my four hens any input is appreciated! Thanks! Also wondering if anyone can predict the age of mine.

well I would say that your hens are between 6 months and a 1 year old. Reasoning is that they look full size, and yet do not look old. Next year, they will have signs of age on them. They will look old.

Just kind of guessing. Could be off.

Some chickens live longer than others, I am finding that my chickens do not really live much longer than 3 years old. Just as general rule of thumb.

Are those speckled sussex? I have not had that breed, and their age span may differ. They look like nice birds.

I believe that they are "hatchery quality Partridge Cochins" but I do not know if "Hatchery quality" are a part of there name This is info that I found from this site and peoples input, there my first chickens to ever own. I have had them for about two months or so.

Hatchery quality, means that they are from a mass hatchery, and probably do not fit the standards for the breed perfectly.

But they should give you good eggs no the less. welcome to the hobby, it is fun.
