how to finish meaties. . . I think I did something wrong

I don't blame you - it's always so disappointing to find them dead!

We were at a fair where the broilers were just tiny. I made a remark how they must not have eaten well, and the owner told me they just didn't "grow right" that year. She said she'd never had meat birds that small and other people were having the same problem (they all got them from the same place). I wonder if it's just a fluke or a strange batch or something. It's got to be disappointing! Sorry!

That is interesting. The man at the feed store told me this was his most disappointing year with his meat birds and he has raised them for years. I have read a few others that say the same thing. It is possible they changed something in the breeding? Maybe it was an attempt to fix the leg & heart issues. Since I am new to this I can only guess. I hope I've learned some things and I will try again. I also will try another hatchery just to see if that helps. I need to contact the hatchery---if people let them know maybe they will go back to the way the used to do things if they made changes.
They still taste good & I gained experience. No real loss.
