I know this thread is older, but I need some advice here...

One of the Muscovy tykes that visits my backyard everyday, a little over 2 months old, has this issue on one of his developing wings. I was wondering if someone could tell me whether or not wrapping the wing will fix it at this point in his growth? As I said, the wings are still developing so I'm hoping it isn't too late, but is it?

Now if this was a domesticated duck I wouldnt ask, I'd just do it anyways because obviously there'd be no harm in trying. But this little guy is a wild duck so It would require me to catch him and keep him for a few days and would take a deal of effort. I'm all too happy to take it on, my only concern is I just really don't want to kidnap and stress the poor thing out for nothing! :)

Posting on this thread seems to be a bit safer then starting a new forum, i have a 1 month old duckling who has developed angel wing in both wings. How long until I start treating it? Is there anything i can feed her extra to balance out the protein ratio in her food? Some of our ducklings last year got it but they didn't have any permanent damage and we had fed them oatmeal as well as their normal feed. Maybe this isn't angel wing then? The last few feathers are sticking up at a point and are just the white/pinkish root of the growing feather.

I just looked at that thread, its very helpful! Thank you for showing it to me, itll really come in handy if it does turn out to be angel wing.

The wrap is finally on, she was so good while we were putting it on, just contently sitting there even though her brother was quacking his head off the whole time. We had to loosen it because she was trying to lay down but kept standing upright every time she started. She got into the chicken run while we were trying to get her in with the ducks and they were chasing her around trying to pick at it, maybe a red wrap wasn't the best choice.

At what point is too late to fix it? I have a 7`8 week old mallard and I have been fighting with him or her for two weeks now, every time I wrap it she/he pulls it off! Now it is beginning to be aggressive with me while I try to wrap it,., This is my first attempt at keeping ducks, I did not realize that they could pinch so hard with their beaks ( ouch)! Please Help! :)

I recently got a Muscovy hen that has angel wing on both wings, she's already laying and all the fixes I have seen are for ducklings is it still fixable? She healthy other than that. I call her my flying nun duck, and will keep her regardless if it is or isn't permanent.

Since the wings have fully developed it is probably beyond repair. Depending on how long they've been like that it may be reversible but that's being optimistic. At least it causes her no pain or discomfort assuming she doesn't try to fly.
