How to get a batch of fermented feed started...

Maybe try putting it in a tray. Perhaps they are scared of your feeder at the moment. Who knows what they had to eat out of before they came to you? I'm glad you are giving them a caring home where they can learn to be chickens.

If they are simply refusing to eat the wet feed, give them a break and give it to them dry. You can always move back to FF after they are settled. Also, check the mill date of your feed. Perhaps it's old feed, or it may be a bad batch. I've had bad feed before, even though it smelled fine, looked fine, and the mill date was fine. My birds were literally starving to death on it. I took the bag back to the feed store, they willingly replaced it, and my birds immediately started gaining back their lost weight.
