how to get a duck into a pond

I have an above ground pond with a brick made steps. they try to lift there legs up to get in but they don't seem to use the steps, how can i get them to.

Maybe you could get in behind the ducks and gently nudge a couple of them up the brick stairs so they get the hint?

They will figure it out. Maybe float some treats, like lettuce, on the water to give them incentive to get in.

A ramp...some steps....they will figure it out eventually. Well, most will. I put a new kiddie pool in the aviary. One of my ducks figured out the ramp 2 seconds after I put it up (Shelley...a welsh harlequin). My runner saw her go up the ramp so she had no trouble figuring out what that was all about. Another of my WH (Wendy) took 3 DAYS to figure out the ramp. My goofy drake STILL doesn't get the ramp and just leaps in...LOL

Oh, I'll have to add that to the reasons we love list. I remember when they were ducklings one could always find the ramp and the others would run round round round the pool peeping the entire way looking for the way in. THEY WOULD have to be on the ramp to go around too!

I used romaine lettuce to get mine up the ramp to the bath tub.. everyone figured it out when they say the lettuce except for the female cayuga.. It took her a while to figure it out... we have a round brick garden area about proably 12 inches off the ground maybe alittle less.. they jump up on the bricks to get into the garden area to root for bugs and play in the bird bath
