Hubby got me a new mutt for our anniversary. I want him to be acclimated to small animals, including chickens, early so that we do not have any problems with him (hopefully) in the future.
Right now, since he is still young, I am just bringing him in the cage with them. He's scared of them which is good (IMO) in terms of, at least he is not running them, etc. He tries to get me to pick him up and gladly follows me out of the run the minute I tell him let's go.
Any other suggestions? My other dog tries to chase our cat and Madden did not attempt to at all until he saw Zoey do so and, of course, attempted to copy her. That's not something that I want him to think is okay, either.
(He will be getting neutered shortly and will also be getting some training, aside from what we do with him here at home.)
Thanks!
(He's mini pin x toy poodle, if it makes a difference. Yes, big breeding mistake by his previous owner and will probably be an ugly thing once he gets bigger.
