My chickens sleep in the coop, but not in their house? I've tried to put them in but they come out and sleep on the grass. Just like in this photo. Do I need to train them?

Yes, you need to put them in every night until they learn the routine of going to bed at dusk. It takes a week or so for them to get the hang of it.

Put them in the house at night and shut off their access to the outside. After a few nights they'll start putting themselves in their house at night.

Agree with the other posters. I was insanely lucky and after two or three nights of me herding them in they do it on their own now. Im in a place with no predators so I leave the coop door open but I do close the door to their run every night.

Im not sure if beginners are as lucky as I was but I did have to do a little work for a nice easy pay off.

Some of mine caught on right away. Others, not so much. Tonight I had to fetch a 2 year old and put her inside.

Thanks for the suggestion s
