I went to TSC today to get chick feed, of course they had chicks and of course they were in almost deplorable conditions. I saw 2 chicks with open pecking wounds and I couldn't stand to leave them there. Min chick purchase is 6... I am now 6 chicks richer:) 2 Amber-links and 4 GLW:)

The other 4 won't stop pecking at the wounds, even with Blue Kote applied. Aside from dividing my brooder into thirds(which isn't really feasible) what can I do?

They all look to be about 2-3 days old and are eating, drinking and pooping well.

OH! been there done that. It is awful isn't it?! Get a red light bulb for the brooder. It works. Everyone is the same and nothing sticks out like a sore...whatever it is.

We've had issues with that too, with older chicks...not babies. My husband read somewhere in a chicken magazine that you can use axle grease. Dab some onto the wounded area and the stink of it will deter the pickers/peckers. IT WORKS INSTANTLY!!!! We're just beginners, but this has been our experience.
