I just had my first broody hen and she was setting on 4 eggs from our mixed flock. She hatched 2 out of the 4 and they are cute little mutts.
My question is for those of you that use a broody hen to increase your flock, but don't want mutts, how do you get your hands on pure breed eggs at the right time for a broody? I am thinking that the next time this hen goes broody, I will stick as many eggs as I can get my hands on under her and hatch out some fun breeds that I don't currently have.
