Our first "hatched by ourselves" peep is now on his 2nd day of life. It's all fluffy and cute but doesn't seem to be eating or drinking with the bantams we got to be it's buddies. I dipped it's beak a few times and placed a couple drops of water on it beak a couple different times. Should I be doing something else?

Don't mean to sound dumb but I wouldn't want it to die to MY lack of knowledge on the subject.

Thankx!

Since they absorb the yolk before hatching, it is supposed to sustain them for up to 3 days. (thats why they can ship day old chicks) Maybe he just isnt hungry/thirsty yet?

I thought that too...maybe I'm just rushing it... It seems to be moving a lot more and such... Just a worried first time peep mom I guess...
