How to get over death of chickens

Thank you so so much for this beautiful and heartfelt message . It really has helped me . you are all an amazing group of people and I can’t thank you enough . Best of luck to you and all your furry friends are looking down on you :)❤️❤️
also , I believe she was sick. I lost 3 within three weeks, sunny was my favorite girl

My beloved Buff Orpington Sunny passed away yesterday unexpectedly . It has hit me very hard , as we always had a special bond since she was a tiny chick. She would always jump in my lap and snuggle in my hair. I’m absolutely devastated and can’t stop crying, I could barely function at work.
😥I miss my Sunny!!!
I'm sorry for your loss.
It would help to know exactly why your Sunny died. A necropsy by your state lab would give you a reason. The reason would be worth it's weight in gold especially if it was caused by something that you could have helped prevent.

Do you still have her body? I found that after my Smudge died, and unfortunate as it was, it helped me get closure by knowing what happened. I ended get getting a necropsy done.
Maybe that would help you as well. Especially if its something you could prevent and become more educated on to keep the rest of your flock healthy in the future. :hugs

I agree with this. When Magnolia died, it helped to know what led to her passing. It was something I couldn't have prevented because she came to me with EYP and helped me understand ways I might be able to prevent it from happening to other birds.

Exactly, same with Smudge.
When I learned it was ALV, it helped to know it was nothing I had done to cause it, just habits that I hadn’t inforced. Now I know how to not only keep my flock safe, but protect other flocks in my area since it is a viral disease. It really did help me get closure. 😌
